Topic: Iowa Debate, Romney vs. Gingrich
Brief Summary-

Basically, the republican primary candidate, Mitt Romney's campaign is not as secure as they thought they were. He was the leading candidate in the race for the majority of 2011 so far, however the Iowa debate had changed his statistics drastically. A phrase that Romney made is used against him. He said that he would bet $10,000 against an action of one of his fellow politicians. The public didn't take this very well. They looked at him as a rich white business owner who could not relate to the average America. Basically, if he is willing to put that much money on the line then finances are no issue to him. Romney's campaign managers tried to tell the press that it wasn't a serious comment, but many of his republican rivals argue differently. Will this comment be enough to change enough people's minds to vote for another candidate, and does he still have a chance in the race?
Gingrich took advantage of the negative connotation the statement made on everyone. There was a question asked about the economy, Romney answered saying that he was more of an expert on the economy, considering his background in business, while Gingrich was a politition all his life.  He spoke more about personal subjects rather than the tasks at hand. Gingrich backfired, saying, "the only reason you didn't become a career politician is you lost to [Sen.] Teddy Kennedy in 1994". Harsh words towards Romney, but perhaps true. The author in the article seemed more biased towards Gingrich. They went back and forth about a few other topics, but Gingrich was the clear winner in this debate. Former president George W. Bush's advisor even stated that Gingrich was the "inevitable nominee" for the 2012 republican primary election. Its up to Iowa and the rest of the country to decide.
